From Driver to Boss on the Pit Wall

The 2026 ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring will mark a very special change. At PROsport Racing, well-known driver Marc Hennerici is trading the steering wheel for the team managers position on the pit wall. Rather than racing himself this year, he will be steering PROsport as the team fields four cars across four classes. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 #26 will compete in SP9 Pro, the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 #37 in SP9 AM, while the two Mercedes-AMG GT4 cars (#175 and #176) will line up in SP10 AM and SP10 PRO-AM. During his active racing career, Hennerici contested the 24h Nürburgring 19 times and celebrated three class victories.

“As a team manager, you really have a busy job. You’re in the pits from morning until late at night and are constantly on the go. In contrast, life as a driver is relatively relaxed: after your stint, you talk to your engineer, and then you have free time. It’s a challenge, but it’s also incredibly fun. With PROsport, we’re here with 52 team members plus 16 drivers on the weekend, and I’m responsible for the whole crew,” Hennerici reports on his first 24h race from the team manager’s perspective.

Asked whether he misses driving at all, the Mayen native says: “Right now, I’m so busy I don’t even have time to think about it. So no, I don’t really miss it. That said, I’ve already done a few laps of the Nordschleife this year as an instructor, drove the roll-out of our cars in Mendig, and hopefully I’ll get back behind the wheel later this year with PROsport Classic. Once you’ve been a racing driver, that never really leaves you.”
