Audi takes the lead

The 48th ADAC TOTAL 24h Race has been restarted. The first three positions still are held by the three Audis R8 LMS GT3. At the beginning of the second lap, Rene Rast (#29) and Christopher Haase (#3) pass Frank Stippler (#1) for first and second positions and open a small gap. The two BMWs M6 GT3 of Sheldon van der Linde and Alexander Sims are pressurised by Maro Engel in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 #6. The Walkenhorst BMW M4 GT4 in 26th position is the best-placed non-GT3 vehicle.

The repair break was used by the team for a precautionary gearbox change.

#6 Mercedes AMG GT3 (Assenheimer / Baumann / Müller / Engel)

Maro Engel: “There still is a long way to go and therefore, we will give our very best. We won’t give up although we had to cope with tough setbacks. I think that our chances are still alive.”

#15 Audi R8 LMS GT3 (Henzel / Frey / Bollrath / Aust)

The RaceIng-R8 won’t continue the race for ‘team-internal reasons’.
